I've been working as a journalist for nearly 25 years and have been lucky to meet and interview a wide cross-section of people during that time. These range from the great, good, rich and famous to the ordinary man in the street with an extraordinary tale to tell. In 2007 I interviewed the last Governor of Hong Kong, Chris Patten, (to give him his full title, the Rt Hon Lord Patten of Barnes), Bodley's Librarian Sarah Thomas, chef-restaurateur Raymond Blanc and author Colin Dexter, among many others. In 2008 the Queen's racehorse trainer Nicky Henderson, composer Howard Goodall, entrepreneur and philanthropist Dame Stephanie Shirley and chef Sophie Grigson granted me their time. I've still got Olympic and world championship gold medallist Matthew Pinsent in my sightlines - he's gone as far as saying yes to an interview - meeting him and the UK's top rowers at the Henley post-Olympic celebration was one of last year's highlights.
I started my life in journalism at the Eastern Daily Press and the Evening News after completing an NCTJ course at Harlow College. In the intervening years, besides the in-depth interviews, I've written news stories, features, restaurant and holiday reviews and worked in PR - I've also produced three children - fast approaching adulthood!
I was editor of the prestigious Eastern Daily Press Norfolk magazine for two years before moving to the Oxfordshire-Buckinghamshire border where I now work as editor of Oxfordshire Life magazine. You can keep up-to-date with my work by visiting the magazine website or this website regularly or by reading my blog.
